Prachtig weer. Goed gereedschap. Tien vrijwilligers die er zin in hebben. Wat kan werken in het landschap toch mooi zijn. De rand bestaat uit tientallen hoge vaak kaarsrechte berken en van een geleidelijke overgang van heide naar bos is geen sprake meer. Dat gaat deze morgen veranderen.\u00a0 De berken worden omgezaagd. Takken worden de bosrand in gesleept en op rillen gelegd.\u00a0 Stammen worden verwerkt tot stapels brandhout.\u00a0 In de komende jaren zullen al die bomen weer gaan uitlopen en zorgen voor een vegetatie waar vogels voedsel en nestgelegenheid vinden, waar vlinders en andere insecten zich kunnen opwarmen in de ochtendzon. De takkenrillen zijn prachtige schuilplekken voor kleine zoogdieren en kleine zangvogels als winterkoning, roodborst en heggenmus. Aan het eind van de morgen blijkt: het werk is nog lang niet klaar.
