In opdracht van beheerder Landschap Overijssel werd een flink stuk struweel van vooral vuilboom afgezet. De struiken lagen precies tussen twee heideveldjes in. Dus werd de strook beplanting weggehaald. Dat leverde nog meer natuurwinst op, want de afgezaagde takken werden op stapels (rillen) gelegd. Deze takkenbossen zijn ideale broedplekken voor vogels als winterkoning, roodborst en heggenmus, maar bieden ook schuilplaatsen voor kleine zoogdieren.
