De Reest stroomt hier langs een hoge zandrug. Op zo&#8217;n plek is het mogelijk een steile wand te maken waarin hopelijk een paartje ijsvogels een nest gaat maken. Alle randvoorwaarden zijn namelijk aanwezig: stromend visrijk water, overhangende takken en weinig verstoring. Vrijwilligers van de kleine werkgroep landschapsbeheer waren er zo mee klaar. \u00a0 De aanleg van de wand gebeurde in het kader van het 16-jarig bestaan van Waterschap Reest &amp; Wieden en stond onder leiding van \u00a0Het initiatief ontstond binnen deze organisatie om een blijvende herinnering in het gebied achter te laten. Het idee is om dit in te vullen door het realiseren van 16 ijsvogelwanden, het symbool van het waterschap, binnen het beheersgebied. Landschapsbeheer Drenthe is gevraagd om hierbij hun expertise in te zetten.<\/p>\n<p>Tot 1 maart worden er acht ijsvogelwanden aangelegd, waarvan nog een in het Reestdal, namelijk op Landgoed Dickninge.
